Board of Director Bios

Matt Duckworth, President
Little League was a family affair. I played baseball first with Urbandale Little League and then with Johnston Little League in Iowa from the ages 8 to 15. My sister played softball, my brothers played baseball, my dad coached, and for three years my mom served as president. Perhaps the best summer of my life was spent at Mickey Owen Baseball School in Missouri, where at 16 I spent 11 weeks playing baseball 8 hours a day. In high school I was a three-year starter at second base. I returned to Little League in college to umpire for Palo Alto Little League in California. In 2010 I began coaching my son's Tee Ball team with Powell Little League. Since then I have volunteered with Powell and Southeast Portland Little Leagues as a manager in the Farm, Minor and Major baseball divisions, Baseball and Softball Player Agent, Umpire-in-Chief, and Coaches Coordinator. I'm excited to continue volunteering with Southeast Portland Little League as its president.

Jeff Keller, Baseball Vice President
I grew up playing Little League baseball here in Portland for Rose City Little League starting at age 8.  I still recall my team sponsor SJ Pounder Realty.  Little League team sponsorship has always been a great place for the Real Estate industry to get their message out to the local community.   It seemed like everyone I knew played Little League in my neighborhood.  I have great memories of those years in RCLL then went on to Madison Babe Ruth from 13-15 which allowed me the opportunity to play for Madison High School.  I was fortunate to letter in baseball at Madison playing varsity both by junior and senior years.  The 80's were a great decade for Madison Baseball winning City Championships six years in a row and being the State of Oregon's top ranked team in 85 and 86.  We did not win a state title either of those years which was a huge disappointment for our team but taught all of us a lot about the reality of team sports.  I have two children in SEPLL one baseball player that has been in the league several years and a softball player in her second year.  I have been coaching and/or on the SEPLL Board for the past four years.  My wife Lisa is also on the SEPLL Board as Sponsorship Manager.  We continue to enjoy being involved with SEPLL getting to know all the dedicated volunteers that make the league what it is today.

 Rachel Ray, 2018 Treasurer

As a family with two Little League players, we've greatly benefited from the dedication of parent volunteers. I appreciate seeing how much work goes on behind the scenes to culminate in those wonderful moments we get to cheer from the bleachers. A few years ago I helped coach t-ball and last year I helped with the concessions. This year I'm looking forward to being the board secretary.

Lisa Keller, 2018 Sponsorship Coordinator

I am excited to work on developing Sponsorships for SEPLL in the role of Sponsorship Coordinator.  2017 is my first year on the board. My children have played in the league for several years and have enjoyed their experiences tremendously. This year my son will play Major Baseball and my daughter will play Farm Softball. I look forward to another exciting season!

David Munro, UIC
I played baseball throughout elementary school, and was reminded of what a wonderful game it is when my two sons started playing through SEPLL. Seeing the game through their eyes and observing the benefits baseball provides to the players and the community makes me want to do whatever I can to promote the opportunity for all kids to play this game. Therefore, I'm happy to serve as the SEPLL Safety Officer.
 Burke Hammond, 2018 Safety Officer
As a lifelong baseball fan I am thrilled to be a part of SEPLL. Our family has gotten so much back from this community. We have watched our kids develop in a sport that they love while making lasting friendships. As a longtime Portland resident I am happy to get involved in our local baseball league as the Safety Officer. Professionally I am a medic for a local emergency services department so this was a natural fit

Shannon Berger-Hammond, 2018 Secretary/Social Media
I am very excited to be a on the SEPLL Board of Directors this year. I have loved being a part of this community as it has given us so much; new friends, getting outside and enjoying a sport we love, and most importantly being a part of a community that enhances our children. We’ve had one to three of our kids playing since 2013.  We are a family of five living in the Foster-Powell neighborhood.  I grew up on the Oregon Coast where I played softball in high school and grew a love for the game. We love southeast Portland and all that it offers it’s communities, the greatest being SE Portland Little League. See you on the Field!

 Heather Adams, 2018 Player Agent

I am a Portland Native, having been born and raised right in the heart of SE Portland.  I actually played for the original SEP#2 Little League from age 7 – 15.  This is my 10th year serving as a Board member for Southeast Portland Little League (having served for Portland Little League prior to our official merger).  I’ve dabbled in all positions ranging from VP of TeeBall to President.  I believe in the program, and I stand by the equal opportunities that we strive to provide for all our players.
I’m looking forward to another fun filled spring of some great baseball and softball!
Have a great 2018 season SEPLL :-)
