We Are Southeast!
We are a close-knit community of young athletes and families. SEPLL teams compete together – we help out other coaches, support all families, and cheer for all players, no matter what team they are on.
Positivity
Be positive with kids at all times. Work on building good energy and don’t show frustration.
Sportsmanship
Regularly ask for good effort and attitude.
Encourage and reward good sportsmanship - thinking as a team, cheering on your teammates, and taking turns. Make rewarding sportsmanship equal to rewarding quality play.
Remember It’s About the Kids
Prioritize play - Relinquish the game to the kids and encourage them to have fun. Let the kids play games without constant instruction. Do the bulk of your teaching at practice.
Give equal playing opportunities - At the Rookie level, all kids should have multiple opportunities to play each position.
Look for individual successes - Different players will develop at different rates - look for individual successes to celebrate.
Play if at all possible – Pacific Northwest kids are used to being out in the rain. Don’t cancel games or practice unless absolutely necessary – find a way to play!
